TechForChange

Who We Are

TechForChange is a volunteer-led organization based in the Chicago suburbs. We bring together people with technology skills who want to use those skills for something practical and meaningful. Many nonprofits have ideas for improving their work but do not always have the time, budget, or technical support to build those tools. That might mean a better website, a small internal application, a form that saves staff time, a better way to organize data, or a tool that helps them communicate with the people they serve. Our hackathon is one way we bring that work to life. Over a focused 48-hour event, volunteers work in small teams with nonprofit organizations to understand a real need and build something useful. The goal is not perfection. The goal is to listen well, solve a real problem, and give the nonprofit something they can build on after the event. We welcome developers, designers, project managers, business analysts, QA testers, students, and others who enjoy solving problems as part of a team. You do not need to be a senior developer to help. Curiosity, reliability, and a willingness to work with others matter just as much. At its core, TechForChange is about using technology to help people who are already doing good work in the community.

What We Do

TechForChange connects local tech professionals with nonprofits that need help building practical technology solutions. Through events like our hackathon, volunteers work together to create tools that save time, improve day-to-day work, and help nonprofits focus more of their energy on the people they serve.
