Food desert. noun. A geographic area where residents' access to affordable, healthy food options (especially fresh fruits and vegetables) is restricted or non-existent due to the absence of grocery stores within convenient traveling distance.
Because of generous donations from our community, United Way of Will County has committed to funding 24 mobile food pantries in Will County to support help those living in food desert areas.
Help us combat hunger and volunteer at the next Mobile Food Pantry!
Volunteers will not only stock food onto tables, but they will assist hungry neighbors in preparing food boxes to bring home.
This Mobile Food Pantry will be held at Second Place Church in Monee.
