ALC Palliative and Hospice Care

Who We Are

ALC Palliative and Hospice Care involves interdisciplinary teams of providers from various specialties. The teams may include phycisians and nurses, social workers, clergy, nutritionists, physical, occupational or speech therapists, volunteers and professionals who work with the patient and family to determine the most effective holistic approach toward treatment.

We provide all the support necessary for you to be successful as an ALC Palliative and Hospice Care Volunteer.  Candidates will go through an application process, receive formal training and be instructed as to the level of professionalism required.

Our volunteer opportunities include direct patient/family companionship and support–writing letters, reading books aloud, playing board and card games, sharing a good conversation,  sitting quietly together, watching a movie together, and more.

Other patient support required may be as simple as sitting outside, walking in the garden, visiting at their bedside at their home, or care facility. They may hear stories of a lifetime, of relationships and adventure, or listen to current worries and concerns.

ALC Palliative and Hospice Care will present a personal letter of reference for those volunteers who have worked with patients for 90 days - who could then use this service towards enhancing their resume for employment or school applications.

We invite you to join our volunteer team to support patients and families in your community. Our volunteer training will prepare you to provide the companionship and support so many patients and families need when faced with a terminal illness.
